Seriously though. When it comes to elemental I like to take advantage of their defensive spells or wards.

Two things about this build. First take out galrath slash for inferno. Use inferno when they activate heal sig for about180 dmg at 10 fire. Second, the sup tactics is not needed. You can stay alive just fine against up to four ettins with only a minor tactics. Great build though, got two sups on my first run through these critters with this build.

hmmm acauly the build alone does not even require galrath slash, you can kill an ettin purly on normal hits, like i've killed one in 5 secs without even using skills bt frenzy alone....
but yeah i will try inferno insted of galrath slash ... seems energy costy though

I never really have energy issues with inferno, cuz it's really the only energy skill in this buid I use regularly save for ViM. I use glad's armor so I guess I probably have a little extra energy in my situation though. I end up using frenzy only to finish off one or two ettins b/c I have health problems for obvious reasons when frenzy kicks in.

vancha problem with ur build is ur turning the war into more caster style. epidemic = 15 energy phantasm = 10 energy(off top of head) frenzy/flurry = 5 energy hundred blades = 5 energy

Hi All,
Being an older guild wars player i dont have much time to play on GW anymore however here is the build i used to use when i was farming ettins.
1. Riposte
2. Deadly Reposte
3. Gash
4. Thrill of Victory
5. Glads Defence
6. Bonettis
7. Dolyak Sig
8. Heal Sig (When in doubt )
Strength - 13
Swords - Wotever was left
Tactics - 14
Although this may appear flaud with the use of block stances it is highly effective due to the high strength and dolyak sig. It may not be as quick as the other builds but u get hit far less then u need to.
I found that i can get through an ettin group of 3 in about 1 min and if i really wanted to challenge the myself i could take out 6 ettins inabout 1m45secs but that was on a good day
Its not the easiest build to use, however i prefer using this build as it is the same build that i can use anywhere to farm and easily avoid damage.
This applies especially later on when u can start to farm things a bit bigger than puny ettins

Hmmmm, if u want speed u really want 2 take Charge and Sprint, as the most time consuming thing is actually getting to them and then re-zoning, cuz u dont do only one run, u re zone them many times. killing them is no problem tbh, i use a full 16 tactics Riptose build, with gash to speed up the killing, and balanced stance for K/D
think build is
-"charge"
-Sprint
-Rip
-deadly Rip
-gash
-Balanced
-heal sig
-and "Watch Y/s"
16 tacs
and then balance it out on stre and Sword
and no need for secondary ;P

Ettin drops got a lot better around the time Factions came out.
But the increased supply of good runes cratered prices.

I use Icy Sword with Conjure Frost and Rust-- Rust makes their sigs a lot longer, which means they take more damage with -40 armor and they stop hitting you.

i use this build that i made:
sever artery
gash
galrath slash
dolyak signet
healing breeze
balthazars spirit
mending
healing- 9
sword
> spend the rest
strength
basically just spam dolyak and heal breeze. i can take on 6 ettins at a time.

This build stinks, sorry. There couldn't be a better time to use dolyak signet in this build. Drops aren't too good. Waste of time, sorry.

Well, at least this build works. And drops used to be good. If you read closely you'll see that last post was made couple months ago, when drops still were good.
